Where would mankind be today without the computer? These machines run so much of our day to day lives it is hard to imagine how the world operated and communicated. Everyday we rely on items such as email, online banking, news sites and various other outlets that the computer has given us via the internet. We use these things without giving them any second thought; some of them are just a part of our daily routine.

For some, the computers have replaced the telephone for communication, the bank for handling money and even the pen as more people rely on word processors to create written documents. They have even replaced CD players and radios as people rely on music software to play back their music, which instead of being bought from the shops in a physical form, are being bought from online sites and downloaded onto the computer. It shows how large the effect is that computers have had on the world.

The trend is showing no signs of stopping. Some people have replaced full scale computers with laptops and some rely on mobile phones for the internet, but computers are still in high demand and are likely to remain so for the foreseeable future.
